Just enjoying the perfect evening on the beach with a sailboat coasting just under the setting sun before it disappears for the night.  Waters were calm as you can see, with just enough breeze to push the sailboat along slowly.  It is moments like these that people flock to this area and end up falling in love with our beaches and coastline.   Venice Florida.

On the southern end of Anna Maria Island sits Coquina Beach and this is the very last lifeguard tower with a few others in view behind going north.  A beautiful chilly January morning on the beach with no people to be seen, the morning fog is still lingering around a bit in the distance giving the beach a hazy feel. A quiet winter morning at the iconic "old jetty" at Coquina Beach on Anna Maria Island is a historic timber structure built in the 1950s at Longboat Pass, designed to protect the shoreline. Went down to the pier last night to see if some nice colors would develop after the sunset and hoping it wasn’t going to be 100 out, I was in luck. Some very nice colors developed the afterglow and provided the perfect back drop for this under the pier photograph, super happy with how it turned out. Great Blue Heron searching for breakfast this morning behind our home and looking very majestic.  What a beautiful bird, very elegant and they move with such grace. This one seemed to be posing for me, I came within about 12 feet, and he/she just let me take more pictures.  When I started to get up, he just turned and looked my way to say good morning.

What a better way to end the day, grab your loved one and head down to the beach to take in a stunning sunset.  The suns rays reaching up to the sky behind the clouds as the sun starts to sink below the horizon.  Just a few more minutes and it will be gone for the evening, until tomorrow for another night on the beach. Walking into complete darkness is what it feels like walking out on to the pier at night, the soft glow from the low lights is all there is. The further you walk out the less you hear the music behind you, just you and the sounds of the Gulf. We are lucky to have this beautiful pier to enjoy here in Venice, so much to be thankful for. What an ominous sky over Sharky’s On The Pier in Venice Florida. An absolutely beautiful sunset at the Venice Pier, the colors where superb and the clouds just added to the drama and great sky. A warm night out on the beach tonight and plenty of lucky people who got to enjoy the event. Another breathtaking sunset ignites the February sky over Venice Beach, the cold wind whipping across the Gulf. Clouds sweep in catching fire in the last blaze of daylight - turning the horizon into a stage where the sun makes its final descent. It’s almost gone now. Venice Beach, Florida

The wind was coming in from the Gulf at about 35 which made for some great waves, always fun to see when not followed by a hurricane. Although the wind makes it challenging to keep the camera and tri-pod upright and steady in the wind and surf, especially with long exposures, we did pretty good tonight. The light is always on guiding boaters in and out of the harbor, especially after the sun has set and darkness sets in. A nice orange/pinkish afterglow this evening contrasts nicely with the blue waters and a super long exposure really softens the photo up and gives it an almost eerie feel. The horizon almost disappears into the mist created from the surf, if it weren’t for the color difference it would be totally gone.  Venice / Nokomis Florida

The Venice waterfront as seen from the north jetty, you can see all the way down to Sharky’s on the Pier.  A clear February evening with a nice breeze which gave it a little chill in the air and helped keep the crowds down. Although windy, the water was very calm with only ripples and small rolling waves.  Our beloved south jetty in the foreground with some clear damage from the 2024 hurricanes, thankfully we still have the north jetty to walk out on and enjoy. They gather almost every night to watch the beautiful sunset from north Jetty in Venice/Nokomis Florida.  A spectacular view of the light show mother nature puts on as the sun sets below the horizon, it was a little breezy and the temp was hovering around 70 which kept the crowds small.  For those who showed got rewarded with some eye candy and the beautiful sounds of the Gulf, even a kite was flying, just a perfect evening and great way to end the day. Headed out to north jetty for some sunset pictures tonight, this has to be the coldest night I have experience here in 13 years. It was cold and super windy with wind chills in the high 20's and temps in the mid 30's, which made for few people.. Can't complain about that! This place is usually packed for sunset, especially this time of year. Shot on 2-1-26 North Jetty Venice / Nokomis Florida.

The only sounds are the gentle waves lapping up against the beach and a few scattered birds, silence and serenity.  No phones, not Facebook, no Instagram, X or anything but you and nature… Breathe. Early morning shoot on Anna Maria Island at Coquina Beach, the fog was lifting and the sun was just coming up over the east horizon, when I snapped this.

Just a beautiful perfect morning out on Coquina Beach, Anna Maria Island in Bradenton. There is a little bit of fog you can see in the horizon adding to the dreaminess of the photo, temps where super nice, had on my fleece and was enjoying the solitude on the beach. I took a series of shots to capture as much detail and light at different exposures as well as a long exposure show to give the wave some motion. Just some wonderful pastels this morning
